I have The Boy With The Arab Strap, If You're Feeling Sinister, Dear Catastrophe Waitress and the Jonathan David & I'm Waking Up To Us. Are Tigermilk, Lazy Line Painter Jane (the ep compilation, not the single ep) and Fold Your Hands As A Child as good? I heard that that latest one isn't really good, I like the song "The Model" though...

Yeah I'd surely would like to buy all their albums, but I'm a bit low on cash right now and there are so many other great bands...

I wouldn't want copies of their cd's though, as their covers are always great... Like Dear Catastrophe Waitress cover best I think... Nice t-shirt that girl has

What about Storytelling btw?

Favourite songs? woo that's hard...
For now I'd say:
1. I'm waking up to us
2. Sleep the clock around
3. I'm a cuckoo
4. Get me away from here I'm dying
5. Judy & the dream of horses

From the site "War Against Silence" :
"We are surrounded by wannabe music, themes for suburban white kids to dress up as ghetto street thugs, vandals to think of themselves as activists, or boys whose voices haven't changed to be poster gods. Immersed in the seductive illusion that daily life should feel like sports highlights, who will still remember what purpose libraries used to serve before one well-intentioned idiot paid for them to buy computers, and some other ones invented GeoCities and Hotmail? Belle and Sebastian write songs for abandoned utopias, or the acuity to recognize a treadmill no matter who calls it a race, or the presence of mind to stop and ask if a lost soul is just lonely, or is you."

Favourite B & S songs:

1. Is It Wicked not to care
2. The State I Am In
3. Get Me Away From here, Iīm Dying

Favourite Album: "The boy with the arab strap"
Plus, I Love Isobelīs songs like "Is it Wicked..." and "Family Tree"

Favourite Lyric:

""The State that I am in"
Belle and Sebastian

"I was surprised
I was happy for a day
in 1975.
I was puzzled by a dream
It stayed with me all day
In 1995.
My brother had confessed
He was gay, it took the heat off me for a while.
He stood up with a sailor friend,
Made it known upon my sisterīs wedding day

I got married in a rush
To save a kid from being deported,
now, sheīs in love
Oh, I was so touched,
I was moved to kick the crutches
From my crippled friend
And she was not impressed
Because I cured her on the Sabath,
So I went to confess.
When she saw the funny side,
We introduced my child bride
To whisky and gin.

The priest in the booth
Had a photographic memory
for all he had heard,
He took all of my sins
And he wrote a pocket novel
Called "The State that Iīm in".
So I gave myself to God
There was a pregnant pause before he said OK.
Now I spend my days
Turning tables round in Marks & Spencerīs
They donīt seem to mind.

Oh, love of mine,
Would you condescend to help me
Cause Iīm stupid and blind.
And desperation is the devilīs work,
It is the folly of a boyīs empty mind.
And now Iīm feeling dangerous,
Riding onto the buses for a hobby is sad.
Why donīt you lead me to a living end,
I promised that i entertained
my crippled friend.

I gave myself to sin,
I gave myself to providence
And Iīve been there and back again,
The state that I am in"

I love Belle and Sebastian, they never fail to sort me out whatever mood I find myself caught up in. They're sound is pretty individual but they were definitely influenced by The Smiths and Felt. The B&S website is worth checking out, especially the Q&A section. Top 5 B&S songs? That's just as hard as top 5 pixies songs and top 10 radiohead songs, what are you people trying to do to me!? Five songs I love by B&S at the moment are: The State I Am In, There's Too Much Love, We Rule The School, Get Me Away From Here I'm Dying, Wrapped Up In Books.
