what kind of rap do you like?

I feel that there are many different sounds to rap, the mainstream crap, more laid back chilling like dilated peoples and a sort've funky aspect like some beastie boys stuff. I'm sure the list goes on and the artists ive listed could be classified into other categories but i'm sure you get the general idea now, so what rap do you like?

Personally i'm not starting to get more and more into the dilated peoples, the people under the stairs, mos def, talib kwali (spelling?) type of sound. I feel that they've got the lyrical skills, hip hop life style down to a science, can actually back up their words, smif and wessen for example, great beats and for dilated peoples an incredible dj that deserves super stardom.

I like most sorts of rap apart from the lovey crap like Ja Rule's late stuff. Dilated Peoples are good, but sometimes you find yourself wantin' to listen to some heavier stuff like DMX or something.
Smif N Wessen are known as Cocoa Brovaz' now by the way.

I like things like Mos Def, Talib Kwali, Oukast. generally more laid back. maybe something funky or jazzy. The Roots are good. I don't realy like most of the pop-rap or painfully typical gansta stuff (50cent, eminem, ja rule). I can only listen to songs about being macho and having lots of women so many times.

Usually nothing in the mainstream but some acts that I have liked over the years are...

A Tribe Called Quest
The Pharcyde
Wu Tang Clan
Outkast
Beastie Boys
Run-DMC
Public Enemy
Basehead
KRS-One
Whoudini
Erick B. & Rakim

...and others but that is a pretty wide sampling of what I like...

I'd also say that my favourite would be hip-hop. Pretty much all of those names Badfish and Aladinsane listed are pretty cool.

I'd have to add Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, De La Soul, Downsyde and Ugly Duckling to the list too.

Seconds on Del... i'd say the most underappreciated rapper... I like most of the artists mentioned, I'll throw a few in myself...
Talib Kweli
Dead Prez
KRS-One
and I dont care of you call me mainstream, Jay-Z, Em, Nas still get regular rotation.

yep i agree to that, i'd have to add edan, Ugly ducklin and herbaliser too....... also into UK hip hop. anyone heard of the likes of Jehst, Task Force, if not check it out. American's created hip hop but we do it just as good, least were not killin it! (50 cent, ja rule! )
