Question Where's the good ol' rhyming songs?

Maybe it's just me. But under "songwriting" there are very few rhyming lyrics. I have no problem with lyrics that don't rhyme but some has to have lyrics that suit some sort of rock song with rhyming verse and such. I don't care so much for chorus rhyming.

But, I should judge and be judge so I'll write my own RHYMING lyrics. Don't Expect much please. I'm no writer. I just believe if someones going to judge others works they should be giving the opportunity to be critisized themselves eh?

Anyway, thats just my opinion. Thanks

P.S.
I'll write something soon. Be nice

i used to force myself to rhyme in my songs. they sounded like crap and...well...forced. i rarely rhyme in my songs, and if i do it's a coincidence, and i think they are much better. i think rhyming is often an overrated part of songwriting/poetry, and that some people don't consider non-rhyming works to be a song or a poem (usually a poem i guess...)

Nevermind. I'm going to stick to writing guitar tabs and not lyrics. I just have that opinion that I want to express. Sorry

Thanks

I only think rhyming is important in rap/hip-hop/r'n'b.

Most great rock songs in my opinion don't have rhyming much at all.

There's No Crime in Rhyme

I think songwriting is largely storytelling. I think we all write in free form rather than in poetry form.

-This Is Not Love
This is not love you’re making,
It’s just my heart you’re breaking,
I feel my body shaking,
It is my life you’re taking,

This is not love you’re trying,
When will you stop your lying?
Watch the clouds as they’re crying,
They weep as I’m slowly dying...

Weren’t you the one,
That told me that I was?
So, where did you go?

This is not love you wanted,
Only your sex you flaunted,
My outcast heart you taunted,
My tortured soul you’ve haunted,

Weren’t you the one,
That told me that I was?
So, where did you go?
Weren’t you the one?
Weren’t you the one?
Where did you go?

This is not love you’re needing,
It’s just pleasure you’re greeding,
And this fear that you’re feeding,
I can’t stop my heart bleeding...

Definately...as long as the lyrics mean something and tell something important, they dont have to rhyme. All that rhyming reminds me of rap. Let me show you something from a RMer's signature...
R=retards
A=attempting
P=poetry

At least I think thats how it went.

I've seen that signature as well...

I think that if a band can have their lyrics rhyming in a way, making sense and sending out a good message all together, then they're pretty good song writers. This doesn't mean that these are the only good song writers, but they add up to the few.

rhyming lyrics seem to be more catchy so modern pop and alternative use it a lot to catch the ears. personally i think its just up to the songwriter... not every song needs rhymes... and most songwriters try too hard to rhyme and end up ruining the song. its supposed to send out a message... send it anyway you can
