people are viewing this because the title 'music software' is pretty vague... and you're not getting a reply because your question gets asked at least once a month and it's in the wrong section (i moved it to the music software area)... i think i'm gonna save the rest of this reply so i can just cut and paste it next time i see this Q...

technically it IS possible to remove the vocals from a song but it'll sound like crap 99% of the time... the only way to properly remove the vocals from a song is to have access to the master recordings prior to the final mixing... once the song is finished the separate tracks cease to exist and (from a technical standpoint) all the individual sounds of the song become one unique soundwave...

the karaoke type progs that claim to be able to remove vocals do so by stripping a certain frequency range from the finished song... so anything that would be in the same frequency range would be cut or have its level significantly decreased (cymbals might sound like paper plates etc...) it might work on a song where the vocals really stand out from the music (like a generic techno/house song)... but i wouldn't use any software like that if wanted to be taken seriously as a producer...

There is also a thread in the 'music software' section which is titled something like 'software to remove vocals from music' or something really obvious.
