Nobukazu Takemura
One of my favourite electronic artists. I love his obvious nods to the music of Steve Reich and Terry Riley, and his strange experimentation with computer vocals. 10th and Scope are definitely my favourite albums from Mr. Takemura.
Is anybody elese a fan?

Oops, sorry about that. I guess I haven't been around these parts long enough.
Somebody said that the vocoder vocals were annoying and unpleasant. I couldn't disagree more. I think the robotic vocals paired with the pastoral melodies makes for a strangely beautiful effect.

well, it is nice at times, but they can be a bit annoying if layered throughout every song, I'm a big fan of his, yet I have never had the chance to listen to "Scope" which seems to be known as his best album...

I enjoy vocoder vocals . Anyway Nobukazu Takemura is amusing . He's a little too cheerful at times though .

Scope is great if you're into stuff like Oval, Fennesz, and other "not-quite-noise-but-not-quite-music" artists. It's very very different from Takemura's other releases, but probably the most satisfying. It's very very heavily influenced by Reich, Riley and Cage.

you are right Josh, I don't really like his 10th album all that much. I really found song 2, 5 and 7 quite annoying. the vocoder vocal is not too bad if it was used in small doses.
the whole album is pretty okay in general, even though it is a bit on the fluffy side of sound.
I was listening to it in a big shopping mall while my wife doing some shopping. it made the mall shopping experience being not so bad.
but I had to switch the CD to Too Dark park after a while. last time I was there, I had Mick Harris' Overload Lady on, that was good.
