I bought 3 CD holders after getting CDs from you, Josh. one holder holds about 48 CDs. and then I put CDs from the same artists next to each other.
that way, I can find them easier than getting them out of the CDR containers. plus, I can just bring a holder to work and listen to them when I can. not a bad deal.
I could have been more anal about organizing my CDs, but that would do for now.

I just noticed that you got Tarwater- Animals, Suns, & Atoms. I used to have that album but I only liked one song on it. so I sold it a while ago. I could have given it to you. bad timing.

But cool post. I'll have to check some of those out. The only ones I have are: My Bloody Valentine "Loveless", N.W.A. "Straight Outta Compton" (on tape) and Radiohead "The Bends". All very good albums.

hey man, I was taking a look at your want list and I think I have a few things that you actually may want...I'd be happy to send you a few cd-r's perhaps if you'd like that...

This kind of thing knocks me a bit sick.
A lot of those bands are small and will feel the CD-R trading because you don't buy the albums you normally would.
If you do, then fair enough, but if not then PLEASE support the music you love because without support, one day it may no longer be available.

well Sir, honestly, I can't afford to pay 20 bucks per cd because if I were to buy a majority of what I just listed, it would cost that...hell, this is exposure for them, a majority of the things I listen to is based out of Europe anyway, how else would I get to listen to this? I'm a music lover, I don't trade just because "i can", I do it because I love listening to various things, and it's a great way to listen to music...sure, i'm still spending gobs and gobs of money on cd-r's, but at least this way it's a bit cheaper, i'm not getting all this for free...

A good example is how many people know and like Vsnares compared wit those who own an actual album. I remember when someonecame back to mine after being at a club and picked up one of my VSnares CDs in awe because - while they're easy to get hold of - so many people just have it on MP3 or CD-R.
If everyone who liked VSnares bought the albums they enjoyed, Aaron Funk could probably afford better equipment etc. As it is, he's really famous in underground circles but hardly anyone has the actual albums.
Anyway... no offence to you personally, I just feel that way about the subject and I won't mention it again.

true, the artists are not getting a penny from people trading CDs. but they don't make all that much from selling CDs anyway. they make anywhere between 10 cents to 50 cents per CD sale. for most underground artists, they make much more money by doing tours and selling other merchandises.
also, someone has to purchase a CD before trading it/burning it for someone else. as you, keef, has mentioned, those artists on the list are mostly underground, and quite obscure. they probably press a small number of CDs to begin with. some may not even be available in america, unless you want to pay $30 for import price.
do u know how hard it is sometimes to find those CDs to purchase?? even if you can find them on some online stores, they may be out of stock.
the bottom line is we buy what we can afford and find, and get what we can get for free, sorta.

this is what I'm trying to say...I'm not saying it's right, and I'm not trying to be greedy about the whole ordeal, but I would think that some of these artists like "exposure" as much as possible...unlike myself, some people that may do these cd-r trades, may do it get an idea if they want to buy the album or not because electronic music isn't too popular in the peer-to-peer world, unless you count soulseek and it goes up and down all the time.
