Hey, all right -- finally an artist I know of!

Unfortunately, I've been 'looking-into' getting some of his recordings, just haven't yet...I should though.

And to make an association w/ "punk jazz", I can't wait 'till Uz Jsme Doma's new album comes out this November(I think) -- now that'll definately be on this list. [Punk-jazz being as good a description as any for their sound...]

well the definitive Jaco album is the Self-titled album...I believe Columbia just re-released it in the past year or so with 2 extra outtakes, which make for a great addition to one of my favorite Jazz albums...

...and to let you know, you've listed quite a few people, I myself, have never heard of, so don't think it's just going one way here.

Ever listen to anything on the electronic/hip-hop/jazz influenced label Ninja Tune? They have a lot of electronic/jazz cd's on there, I'd suggest Amon Tobin's "Permutation" in a heartbeat

Yeah, I've picked up on your love of Amon Tobin. And no, I haven't heard anything on Ninja Tune, although I suppose I'll have to now. My IDM experience is pretty limited to Warp.

Any other suggestions you have? I adore these artists:

- Aphex Twin
- Squarepusher
- Autechre
- µ-Ziq
[By the way, do you know how Paradinas pronounces this? Mu-Zick or Mu-Zique]
- Plaid
- Boards of Canada
- Icarus

So any other similar artists you could name off w/ a similar style would be great. I like the more complex, experimental Drill n' Bass - Richard D. James Album, Go Plastic, Lunatic Harness - things of that sort.

Thanks.

Mu-ziq (pronounced either way) is what he goes by, and electronic music is my specialty, hell i'm the mod of the electronic board

Spring Heel Jack is good, try "68 Million Shades" and "Busy Curious Thirsty", they bring out a lot of jazz in the intelligent drill n' bass/drum n' bass stuff

by the way, Amon Tobin's stuff is on Ninja Tune  Chris Bowden, Cinematic Orchestra, and Clifford Gilberto are some other jazzy-like artists on Ninja...

I know Electronic music's your specialty. I figured if anyone could answer the pronunciation question it'd be you.

And I know of SHJ -- haven't heard anything from them though...I suppose I'll have to add it to the list of 'need-to-buy' items...

...god I hate being poor.

if you like Jazz influenced techno, try Fila Brazzilia and/or The Odd Toot...some of it, is actually quite good...

...and yes, I hate being poor too...majority of my money goes to music which makes me happy, but leaves a void for other things...

i'm still looking for jaga jazzist... i think i'm going to have to cave and get a credit card whenever i get a job... it's pretty lame to live in a major city and yet only find derivatives of rock music in record stores... it's not that most stores don't have a jazz section... it's just that most stores don't seem to acknowledge that there's more to jazz other than miles davis / thelonius monk / john coltrane...

god, i hate having all these cd's that people scrape up to get, if you want a copy of "The Stix", just let me know...

by the way, Haakon really liked this release, although it just isn't my thing for some reason...I usually like things like this, but I just couldn't get into it...
