Perhaps, but Peter Green hit the scene not long after and dare I say is a better Bluesman than Clapton. Though, Clapton, much respect. Cream is my favourite band of the era, in fact.

By the way, I'm sure this album predates "Clapton is God" and in fact sparked it.

He's reading The Beano. Mayall is to his right, and John McVie and Hughie Flint are to his left.

Really? LOL, I would've guessed he's the one in the far right.

I agree completely. The 'Hard Road' album he did with Mayall is well worth hearing.

Brian Jones also came to mind while I was writing that - he's very underrated in my view.

It came about around the time he was with Mayall - whether before or after the album, I couldn't say. He definitely claims to have been embarrassed by all the adulation he was getting, even from his time with the Yardbirds.

"Slowhand" dates from the Yardbirds period. For anyone who doesn't know the story:

When Clapton was playing shows with the Yardbirds, if he broke a string he would just stand right there on the stage and make everybody wait while he changed it. This would often lead to a slow handclap from the audience, so band manager Giorgio Gomelsky gave him the name "Slowhand Clapton".

It was still a while before he turned into "Snoozehand", to give him Satchmo's sadly appropriate moniker.

Working fine on mine. It's Suede's Coming up (Peter Saville cover) in case anyone else gets the blank page.

Yep, it's amazing how a man can go from this

To this

But he still can pull it out, if he wants

The key phrase here being "if."

And I must admit my partiality for this particular tune:

Yes - Fragile

Classic art rock! Classic art work!

The artist, Roger Dean, had a big impact on the head space of music fans in the 70s. His stuff is everywhere, from the Virgin Records logo to a McKendree Spring album. He really sets ones mind to wandering. The Fragile cover is a top notch example of his style. Inside the original LP was an insert featuring more of his work (nicely reproduced) along with the liner notes. They don't make em' like they used to.

Lita Ford - Dangerous Curves (1991)

A great 80s stylish album cover! I love the lighting, the colour contrasts, and the artist/album title print. And Lita for the first time ever looked really hot on one of her covers. The Warlock guitar is a bit overshaddowed, that could've been done better.
Great album, too.
