Red face

I get my salary and so artists deserve their salary. So that's the reason why I buy CDs.

not that this hasn't been said before, but when you buy a CD the artist don't really get much. go to there concert or buy a tshirt and they get much more of that profit.

i preview music via filesharing, and if i like it i will download more, then go and buy a disc from the artist.

plus having CDs is sorta like a status symbol.

Amen to that i feel the same way i LOVE having the whole cd sure it not cheap but if your like me you can apprecate the musican for there music, you'll buy the cd. if you really want to get the cd get it the day it's release it's ALOT cheaper. I don't know if its the same for everywhere else but most of the time i buy a cd the day it's out and i only pay $9 compare to $12-18. But i ALWAYS check out the cd first on the artist site. I do my homework . Most with a few of my favorite i don't bother checking out the cd before buying i have complet faith that there music will be awsome. I haven't been wrong once!!!

I buy the CD for the same reasons mentioned. I also like having the CD because sometimes songs I don't care for at first, grow on me. Those are the tunes that never make the radio, but sometimes become my favorite songs. This way I have those songs as well. Had I only downloaded what I liked at first, I would miss out on the songs that grew on me.

totally agree. sometimes you can only find the hits, which i usually don't like anyway. fountains of wayne, for example, is a band i love, and what song are you guaranteed to find on any filesharing network? stacy's mom, a song i CAN'T STAND. but the rest of the cd i like for the most part.

anyway, songs you might find on filesharing you might hate, but songs from the rest of the album you might love...but if you just stick to filesharing you might never know.

Yeap, but remember the fact, that if you live in a country where the artist doesn't visit so often (if at all), then the CD is probably only way to show respect for the artist.

All of my free spending money goes to music. I don't buy CD's because they're overpriced and underpackaged. I always purchase my music on vinyl. It's at least ten dollars cheaper most of the time, and the packaging is much more thourough. Also, putting the needle on the plate, and just sitting down to listen to it, is quite a lot more of an experience than just popping a CD into the player. And the record format almost forces you to listen to the whole album from start to beginning.
