Re: "paul's boutique kicks serious ass" Yes, it does. It's one of my favorite albums, if not my very favorite.

What the hell, here are my second and third choices for favorite hip hop album:

+ Public Enemy "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back"
+ A Tribe Called Quest "Midnight Marauders"

Re: "black sabbath" I'm sure there are legions of bands out there that have been kicking themselves for not thinking of the name first. (I'm not huge into metal, so I don't have any burning choices for second and third favorites.)

midnight marauders is most definately one of my favorite party albums. ATQC are the best: hardcore rappers love them as well as sexy skinny french models.

it takes a nation...was the album back in the day. listened to it everywere. it really changed my perception of what i wanted from music.

FAVORITE PUBLIC ENEMY TRACK. "by the time i get to arizona" from apocalypse '91. this song really really touches me like few other songs. it's just as strong and powerful as it is beautiful.

AUTECHRE is a powerful name. great british bands great names.

Hip-Hop:
Techno Animal - Brotherhood of the Bomb
I'm also into a lot of older rap acts from the early 90s. Public Enemy and NWA and whatever. But that stuff really isn't the same as hip-hop.
Metal:
Soilwork - Natural Born Chaos

Techno Animal is hip hop? ... OK. I have "Versus" and it sure as heck isn't. Oh, what do I know anyways.

i say techno animal is veryyyy hip-hop influenced...just look at Justin Broadrick and his Godflesh project...the remix albums under that moniker are heavily dark laden with hip-hop beats
