If you want dark melodies check out The Abyssinians.

If you want space-battle effects and flanger-riddled mixes than Scientist would be the way to go.

Both Scientist and Prince Jammy are disciples of King Tubby. Jammy produced the first Black Uhuru release. Jammy with the song he produced Under Me Sleng Teng became the father of digital reggae.

yeah cool stuff you listed there.
But first of all i want to say that we need a jamaican/reggae forum here.

If you like Dub music you have to check out Prince Far I<--GOD
And not that dubbish but great, Clancy Eccles check him out.
I also recommend Pablo Moses and Jackie Mittoo. And the Horakhti List.

You are not alone Horakhti. Dub is a perennial favourite of mine, best suited to sticky humid days in mid-summer with a beer in hand. There's something inexplicable about dub and sunshine.

I suppose its not widely recognized that so much of our current music developed as a result of what happened in Jamaica so many years ago. I read a great book a long time ago which traced the root of all electronic music to Dub. It was called Reggae, Rasta, Revolution. Not a bad read.

I have this to recommend:
http://www.twilightcircus.com/

Its new dub in an old style, with particular attention paid to mastering for bins/soundsystems. Its deep deep dub.

Also click this right now:

You can go farther back than dub as influence on electronica. You could say everything in modern music can traced back to the blues.

Care to expand on that connection more, Satchmo? Sounds interesting.

What I am saying is that blues is the foundation for modern music. Reggae and its musicians for example were influenced by R&B.
