Question Marconi Union Help!

A while back I bought a CD on Ochre Records by a band called Marconi Union and am becoming gradually obsessed with it, I can't stop playing it as I always find something different in it every time I play it. Their record label website doesn't have any information about them and I can't find any other releases by them except they have done a remix of a band called Charles Atlas who are also on Ochre but the remix is on an american label called Audraglint and although I've tried ordering it here in the UK it doesn't seem to be avaiolable.
Does anyone have a copy/know where I can get one?
Does anyone know anything about them?
i.e. who are they? where are they from? what else have they done? are they touring?
Any help would be very gratefully received.
Cheers.

There is a thread about this band on the Stereolab forum, but I read about them in Uncut magazine a while back, and they were compared to Harold Budd, Sigur Ros and The Boards of Canada. I've also done a quick search on them and they've been compared to Labradford on a couple of sites.

marconi union remix

I can check on what the story with marconi union is, I believe they are from Scotland. The Charles Atlas remix is finished but the album with the remix is not coming out until next year at some point (sybarite, magnetophone, casino vs. japan, stendec, strategy, solenoid, the telescopes, and pram are some of the other people doing remixes on this. So far they all sound amazing!). Agreed that Under Wires and Strings is an awesome album.

What Charles Atlas track have Marconi Union remixed? is it from Felt Cover or the new album and when is it out? will it be out in the UK?
I totally agree with you about Under Wires & Searchlights being an awesome album.

marconi union charles atlas remix

they've remixed The Deadest Bar from the album Worsted Weight. This is coming out on the label Audraglint late spring/early summer, hopefully, around the same time as a new studio CA album on Ochre.

marconi union/ charles atlas remix now available

For anyone still looking: the marconi union remix of The Deadest Bar is now out; it's on "Fabricate: Worsted Weight Remixed" on Audraglint. You can order it from www.audraglint.com (it won't be shipped to distributors until the end of June).

Just heard via a friend of mine who's "in the business" and sort of "knows them" that Marconi Union have just signed a record deal with All Saints Records a label that puts out lots of stuff by John Cale, Jah Wobble, Brian Eno and people like that. Apparently they are putting a new album out but he didn't know when.
Funny really because I hadn't listened to them for ages but the other night i put on Under Wires what a brill album and I only discovered it because of this thread, funny how it all goes round in circles.

Apparently "The Union" have signed to All Saints, and have a new album out soon, which is going to be called "Distance" although there does seem to be some confusion over when, as according to their website at www.dotca.co.uk it comes out in July but the e-mail I got from All Saints said end of August.
