Hey Artemis, you're welcome! Sorry for the delayed response, for some reason I didn't get an E-mail when this thread got new posts. If you ever have questions about Jamaican music, let me know and I'll try to help you out if I can.

Also, moflow, it's great to see another person so knowledgable about ska and rocksteady on the forum. All of those artists you mentioned are great.

Lastly, if you haven't already, check out my other Jamaican music thread. It covers reggae and dub up through the end of the 70s:

Scientist's "Scientist rids the world of the evil curse of the vampires" is a really good introduction to dub, as are Blood and Fire's "Dubwise and otherwise" compilations one and two. And theyre like a fiver each, really cheap. Burning Spear are pretty awesome i think too.

And bleugh, i didnae like the Rastafari boxed set at all..... I'm quite new to reggae, and i looked at the back and thought "black uhuru, that means roots" and i get home and find Dancehall and Bounty Killer, which i just cant listen too. I still have it though... cant be bothered with the refund hassle!
