Sorry, I've been completely oblivious to country music, and now out of boredom I've been watching a lot of CMT.

i'd say it's pop music in a cowboy hat... and the worse offender would be... seriously the guy has about 2 basic song types and just replaces lyrics... 2-3 songs = 20 #1 hits... WTF?

and cybocat... i'd put the cowboy junkies in the same league as mazzy star... some sort of alterna-folk thing hehehe...

Its still over-played here. Every now and again it pops up at a party, and recently, I even heard it played in an Australian theme bar

Would country music be a subdivision of Pop music, in any of your opinions,

the current country - yep. I actually like it. I don't like really twangy old time country (with the exception of a few singers).

OMG - the acky breaky.. kill me now if you're going to play that!! Lord have Mercy!!
