Michael is just: THE GREATEST ARTIST OF THE 20-TH CENTURY!

He has the talent of Mozart, the originality and the spell of Elvis Presley, he dances better than Fred Astaire, he has the heart of a child, and the generosity of Mother Teresa of Calcuta.

What can we ask more?

Exactly, it's just people find it stupid if someone is slightly different to other people.

greatest pop star does not equal greatest artist... better than george and ira gershwin? john coltrane? miles davis? pablo picasso?

NO

Elvis was about as original as eminem... he wrote all of none of is songs and used media scandal to intially propel his career

better dancer... yep... heart of a child... possibly... mind of a child... definitely... generosity of mother teresa... don't think so... she was as recognized worldwide as he was but she didn't hide in neverland...

more? how about pull your head out of the clouds... take a solid look at the world around you with your own eyes and go from there... while it's nice to think that a hug and a kiss will save the world and solve all your problems... once you wake from la-la land you realise that shit doesn't work like that...

now if we could only get bono to shut the hell up about saving the world with a hug...

It's the first time I hear someone who doesn't appreciate what Elvis gave to the world.

I think that you shouldn't forget that if youngs are free today, have their own world, their own style of clothes and hair, it's because of Elvis. In fact, I don't speak english quite well, and I don't want to give you a class about Elvis career.

Mozart: In order to understand Michael's talent, just hear:

BILLIE JEAN
SMOOTH CRIMINAL
EARTH SONG
HEAL THE WORLD
WE ARE THE WORLD
BEAT IT
DIRTY DIANA
BLACK OR WHITE
THEY DON4T CARE ABOUT US etc

Of course, you should watch also his clips and performances.

There's something I hate: The ignorants who give their opinion, and attac the others for that, without knowing the subject. And I'm sorry to tell you that, but you are one of those persons.
Be well

without knowing the subject? you're comparing a popstar to a classical composer... granted that he WAS the best popstar of his day... he's still no mozart...

why is it that you MJ fans take any comment that isn't glorifying your idol as an attack against him? i have NEVER said he wasn't talented...

and you compared MJ to the originality and spell of elvis... i'll agree on the spell... they both knew how to work a crowd to their favor... but elvis's orginality is about the same as eminem's... and i stand by that statement... i'm not saying that elvis was a poor performer or a bad person or insignificant to rock music... but truly 'original' he was not (bill haley and the comets are arguably the originators of rock music)... he borrowed from popular styles that were well in existence before he rose to fame (country and blues)... his career initially blossomed because he was a white person who could sing with the soul of a black person... and as racist as that sounds it's a sad reflection of western society...

yeah I'm going to have to agree that comparing MJ to Mozart is a bit of an overstatement. I've heard MJ's stuff. And I think it is great music, I really do the man is definitly very talented. But I also am familiar with classical music and mozart is more impressive. But I think it is hard to compare classical compositions to 4 minute pop songs. they are very much different things.

excuse me for a minute...

Ok... here's the problem with comparing Michael or with Mozart. What if I think classical music is the WORST crap I've ever heard in my life? (I don't for the record) and that Pop is the greatest... Obviously my OPINION would be Michael is the greatest right? Opinions are relative. Fact is both are great composer/performer - whatever. They are both (all three if you include Elvis in the mix) historically significant figures in music - that's a fact. Who's better is an Opinion.. You both get to be right!!

I don't know enough about Elvis to make any kind of comment on him. I do like his performances - his movies are funny. Guess they were good in their day.

well think of it like this... michael jackson was the greatest pop star we've seen... he wrote and performed POP songs (one genre)... mozart was a masterful composer of operas, symphonies, chamber music (various genres)... see what i'm getting at... MJ doesn't compare... then again he hasn't lived his course yet either and he may surprise us all in the future... but it doesn't really look like it to me...

and i'm not a fan of classical music...

there's a big difference between saying "I like MJ better than Mozart" and saying "MJ has as much musical talent as Mozart". I'd be fine with anyone saying the first. Listen to what you like, I don't care. But if you think MJ has more overall musical writing talent than mozart? Then I would suggest to study some music theory( if you hadn't already). and then look at both of their total compositions and decide who has the larger display of musical talent. I personally haven't done this, but I bet that Mozart would win.

It's still just an OPINION.. Michael also created great performances and videos - ground breaking for his day.

Your opinion is Billie Jean is wrong. Hers is that she's not. Both of you have valid points. But it's still arguing an OPINION of who is the better of the two. Neither is right or wrong.

I actually have no real comment on who I think is better. They are hard to compair IMO.

Ok.. I made my point.. I think.. anyway - it's getting late here.
