Emo is short for emotional right?
Crap, Backstreet Boys were pretty emotional.

yea well emotion is in all music. i dont know of very many none emotional artists. i think the reason why people dont like emo so much is because with a lot of people its to poppy. and a lot of people dont like pop. oh do you think that weezer is considered emo? or what are they...

When did mediocrity and banality become a good image for your children? I want my children to listen to people who fucking ROCKED! I don't care if they died in puddles of their own vomit! I want someone who plays from his fucking HEART!" bill hicks

well if a lot of people don't like pop how is it pop. Emotions are needed in music I feel, regardless if it is angry or not and the whining in emo i find to be about girls or friends, who else can you really care about? But listening to harder stuff that is angry and agressive I just listen to in a few specific cases, skiing and speeding, can't just listen to it chillin out, whatever though just my opinions and thats what makes this forum a beautiful place.

emo is influenced by the genre punk but less aggressive, less angry and more whiny.
