Ahh well I am a complete failure when it comes to anything mathematic or scientific but from what I have been told mathematics can be incredibly interesting (as long as you understand it!)

I did a degree in pure and applied mathematics and seriously for the first 3 years I was stoned every single lecture, tutorial and exam. It used to really spin me out. Some of the concepts involved were very freeky.
I used to have these geeky maths people comming up to me before exams saying "I can see you have been studing all night look at you red eyes" little did the know, I was on the devils weed.
The funny thing was I stoped being a really chronic pot smoker at the beginning of my final year and if anything my grades went slightly down.

Weird! I have a friend who is very into his hard sciences and we used to get stoned and he'd explain all his theories to us. Some of it was just a total headfuck!
Back onto the topic, If I remember a while ago when you and I had a little 'disagreement' regarding emo, I think you asked me to suggest a couple of newer emo bands that you might like.
Now I'm not entirely sure whether you will like these bands but if you get a chance check them out and let me know what you think (in fact you may have already heard of 'em).
I suppose these are actually more hardcore than emo but I would still say that there is a strong element of emo to them.
A Static Lullaby
Recover
Boysnightout
Poison the Well
Alex Is On Fire
Ummm... I'm sure there were some others but thats all I can think of right now. Let me know what you think.

Well I have been d/loading songs (well 2 so far) in search of EMO that I like.
The two I have d/loaded is
Get Up Kids, I don't know if it is called thousand mile summer or 3 days more.
The music is okay but I don't really like the voice of the dude, it sounds to much like a kid (I guess I should have expect that with a name like get up kids)
Yellow Card - Time will tell. I really like this. The music seems a bit less standard than get up kids and the voice is heeps better.
These bands sound like they have taken alot from the "fat record" bands that I used to listen to years ago like lagwagon, bracket and good riddance.
Can you give me 1 stand out tracks from each of those bands and one from sunny real estate (I think that is their name). That way when I check them out I know that the song I have chosen is not a dud.

Yeah sure but it will have to wait till I get home tonight, I haven't actually heard any Yellowcard but Get Up Kids are one one of my favourite bands ever, I understand you not liking the voice though I have heard the same thing said by other people. What I like most about the get up kids is the lyrics, I think they are really poetic and very 'emo'!

yea but if you look at it bands like cradle of filth and converge which are both heavy in their own respects have really poetic lyrics even if they scream. so does poetry make the music emo or is it the tone of the song.
yea and i didnt know this thread would do good, i havnt logged on since last year but keep it up

I don't hate all 'emo-music'. I like Sunny Day Real Estate for example. In Cirles is a great song! The Promise ring - is that considered emo? I dunno but i like some of their stuff aswell. What i DON'T like is this 'emo-scene' with these depressed teens and shit. The world could do without them. GET OVER YOURSELFES IDIOTS!! Infact, labeling stuff as 'emo' is just stupid. Emo don't exists. What is emo?? Emotional music? If you want men crying over bad relationships or whatever, listen to some old blues!
But i guess we all had crappy taste in music when we were kids

What, so you think anyone but you liked emo in the past?
Actually, it's pretty stupid of me to make the assumption that they didn't, but it's still damn pathetic. Isn't emo like big belt buckles and box-frame glasses?
