my favourites are PDA, obstacle 1, roland and hands away. if you haven't heard those ones, you haven't heard interpol.

as for contemporary bands, I saw an Interpol gig and British Sea Power did the opening, they're also quite ok. They just have a first album "the decline of British Sea Power" out

british sea power are more than ok. that album, as well as their bsides from it are amazing. they are truly one of the great bands emerging rightnow.

so are interpol. great album.

iagree with orphs comparrisons. try a band out of Montreal, Canada as well. theyre call The Dears and they are one of the best bands in Can. rightnow [alongwith The Constantines from Guelph]. iknow that doesnt necessarily say much, Can. being responsible for such travesties as Nickleback and Barenaked Ladies, but trust me. The Dears are one of the most eclectic and creative bands in the world right now, with a very special singer/songwriter in Murray Lightburn.

the dears are top notch... i saw them at a bar last june... they don't seem to stop touring in canada and they usually play for about $5 a head... you'd be a fool to pass them up if you're of age...
