Just received a "warning" on Kazaa Lite
Last I heard the record companies were only going after people sharing thousands of files, yet on Kazaa Lite (which I won't use anymore) I got a message today from CopyrightInfringement_Warning532 warning me to quit sharing files.
All I am sharing are about 40 files that are out-of-print (a few videos, and some old scratchy vinyl ripped from 45s). I read here that Kazaa Lite blocks IP addresses...is this true? I'm wondering if it's just someone screwing with me.
Nevertheless I guess I'll use something else from now on. Is WinMX safe? It always seems to find the most stuff. I have noticed that Kazaa Lite gives a users a "rank" of activity (which record companies might look at), yet WinMX doesn't. Somehow my rank got screwed up and said I had shared 1000 files after only uploading maybe 30...maybe that's why I got targeted.
If I had the money, I would LOVE to go to court with these record companies, because I don't think file trading is actually illegal since there is no money being exchanged (record companies seem to have succeeded in making most people think it IS illegal, though I doubt this has been proven). That's the really scary part: they're intimidating people to enter into settlements and NOT go to court to avoid the expense, though people probably aren't doing anything illegal anyway. Morally I still think people who trade offical recordings should be kicked in the nuts, but in my case I'm only sharing things that can't be bought in stores in the first place...so I especially don't see how anyone could prove any monetary loss by my activities.
(For the record, they were uploading the single version of Blondie's "Heart Of Glass" which isn't on CD, and was ripped from my 45 that's 23 years old lol)

no, their is certain time period in which you cant be busted. But once you connect to kazaa online, you will get busted evntually, unless they dont bust you first.

i know a great file sharing progam.....
winMX it's awsome, it's have no p2p networking crap running in the background of your comp, and as far as i've heard there has been no law suite against it's users or program. The website it working and everthing fine, that's the only program i use for filesharing, so much easier then everything else. I encourage ya'll to go check it out.....It's worth it......trust me

file to share
Well true, if the file is not for sharing then really it's not fair to share it is it?
Anyway to cheer everybody up i've put my own music on Kazaa for people to share , not all of it, just some tracks. But it's availa ble to download anyway on iuma.
Perhaps musicians could make some music legally shareable and then you can pay to get the rest? We all have to live, and I a'int made it rich yet!!! (I'll let you know when I do! :-)
