Ok, I have a bit of time, and I like you, and I am in a good mood. I would suggest reading this portion again.
Are you actually asking how good any Monk recording happens to be, especially any Monk and Coltrane recordings?
Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane - the Father of the Tenor, Coleman Hawkins also is on two tracks. Essential is an understatement!!

I really should wear my glasses more often. Thank you, I will certainly get that one.

I would highly recommend getting Monk's Music first, if the funds are limited on getting both. Coleman Hawkins is on that one as well.

I would actually get Brilliant Corners and Monk's Music before the later one with Coltrane and Hawkins.

There is a legend around Monk's recording Monk's Music. It involves the track, Well, You Needn't.
You will hear Monk yelling out Coltrane's name twice, just before Coltrane drop a killer solo.
The urban legend has always been, that Coltrane had started nodding off (he was still going through his drug problem at this stage) and Monk yelled out his name to wake him up.
Others claim that Coltrane was just not sure where he was supposed to be soloing.
I have always found the first one to be highly unlikely considering the solo Coltrane gives. To go from nodding off to ripping the roof off the place in seconds, just is beyond belief, even for Coltrane.
Anyway, I really can't imagine hearing that song without Monk yelling out "Coltrane, Coltrane". It just adds to the song.

Is that the same "Well, You Needn't" that is on "The Genius of Modern Music Volume One"? I listened to that song on "The Genius of Modern Music Volume One" and I didn't hear Monk yelling. Is it in an alternate take or sometihng, or am I just going deaf? (most likely due to this wonderful piece of art that I received today -
 )

I would say, it's most likely, because you forget your glasses again.
It's in the first sentence, of my post. It's on, Monk's Music.

I saw that it was on Monk's Music, but it is possible to have the same song on multiple albums...
I'll just assume it is two different "Well, You Needn't"s then.

Ok, you're a good kid and I like you, so I won't respond in my usual sarcastic tone, but read my post #25) again. You will see that what you assumed would have been impossible, especially on Genius of Modern Music, which does include the first recorded version of the song.
If you still can't figure out why it would have been impossible, I might drop some sarcastic hints.

Sometimes I get the feeling you are secretly editing the posts every time something like this happens so I think I am losing my mind.
