mmm Westmalle triple
Yes Flanders has a rather lively folk scene... Köln isn't so far from Dranouter, where there's a big folk festival in August... They've had Värttinä, Hun Huur Tuu and others... Haven't been there myself though, but I'd want to... There's also a concerthouse and a shop, I think... But I'm so lucky to have a good folkshop in my own town too...

I'll look around for Urga... Hippjokk is Hedningarna's best, really? Mmm then I should get it after all... Karelia Visa is along with Vedergällningen my favourite folk record... Flemish band Laïs covered Hedningarna's "Tina Vieri" and though it's not a bad song, the original is much better...
You have good taste as well.

Always wanted to go there.

I'll bet not every band in the world tours there.

I've tried reading Icelandic, it looks like old Viking to me.

I feel fine thanks.

I think text wise, Danish and Norwegian are the most similar. Icelandic and Swedish start getting difficult for me, and Finish is just plain Eastern European to me, although I can sing along to Värttinä from listening to their stuff so much, I have no idea what it means.

Do you speak more French or Flemish?

I took 5 years of Spanish in school andn want to learn French. My fiance' is from southern Germany, Freiburg, and knows a little French being so close to Switerland, but I only know Danish and Spanish from 20 years ago.

I speak Flemish (officialy Dutch) and I speak a bit French, but not good enough for living in a country where it's the other main language...

edit: wow this is my 4444th post!

Congrat's Orpheus!

Also, I've posted enough music to get an idea of what my tastes are.

What are some other bands/songs you could recomend?

I have no Belgian or Icelandic Artists, but would like some.

I'm short on French artists, and Dutch as well.

Any suggestions?

More into progressive fusions of folk with some electric/electronic instrumentation, unless it's really wild acoustic stuff.
