Värttinä from Finland, and Urga from Sweden are my two favorite bands anywhere.
Väsen and Swåp are really good too.

Värttinä I recomend Cd's Vihma, and Kokko.

Urga, Etanol and some stuff off Urgasm.

Väsen's best I think is Whirled.

Swåp, I recomend SIC

Sorten Muld from Denmark is good too.

Groupa I like.

others already mentioned..

Hedningarna and Garmarna are amazing.

Hipjokk being Hedningarna's best followed by tra.

Garmarna all are good, Vengeance and Hildegard von Bingen I like best.

You have nice taste in Folk. I just recently found out about Värttinä and Urga, thanks to you. Do you have a link for Sorten Muld?

Thanks for the compliment.

I've been looking for years to find people who listen to and like these artists.

So hard to find in America outside of huge areas like California, New York and Texas.

It's great to be here, hope I find some new music here I've never heard of as well.

I don´t know what it´s like in America. I doubt I´d feel at home there.

There are a few people into Folk music here. I´ve heard alot of new music at this forum.

You've got a good taste stachelschwein (and Adda too of course )
I'll look around for Urga... Hippjokk is Hedningarna's best, really? Mmm then I should get it after all... Karelia Visa is along with Vedergällningen my favourite folk record... Flemish band Laïs covered Hedningarna's "Tina Vieri" and though it's not a bad song, the original is much better...

Hippjokk is very brutal if you're into that sort of thíng.

The girls aren't on that one either, and there's more electronic elements.

I like the progressive stuff the most.

I'm most impressed by inovation and hearing something new sounding.

I see your from Belgium?

You have the world's best beer, drink a Westmalle triple for me.

Within 6 months, I'll be moving to the Köln area (not far from Belgium)

What's the live music like in the area?

It's shit over here, I had to drive 7 hours to see Värttinä last time they were over here.

Like you, I didn't like cds like Garmarna's Hildegard von.... when I first heard it, and it sat on my shelf for over a year, but I really gave it some quality listening and now it's one of my favorites.

The electronic fusion thing took a while to grow on me, but now I love it.

you can buy Urga's Etanol here.

I can of course yahoo messenger you some to see if you like it first.

Everyone I've played it to loves it. Everyone I know that likes Hedningarna agrees that Hippjokk is their best.

We're not acoustic folkies though. Folk/Rock/Fusion types.

I'll put my messenger info into my profile, will be gone until midnight today though
