Steve, the only problem I have with your posts are that you use way too many descriptive scientific words . It's almost like you are taking a leap into space and bringing back what you have found to be true. If you are taking anything, please help a brotha out

, perhaps i like to keep things interesting. unfortunately this doesn't always yield an understanding. basically what i was saying was that freeform has better things to do than to talk on a forum about things he has direction and perspective in already. perhaps we'd through him off track, you know?

Kid606's Kill Music. i bring this up because of how diverse and talentful this release is. there's just about everything on here; and it's not just an experiment to see how many styles he could through together in an album--these tracks are put together very well. he continues to show his aggressive nature, but also allows his softer side come out as well. there's something for everyone on this release.

if you like that one, I'm sure you'll like the new one that's coming out soon if it hasn't already...

just got "Don't Sweat the Technics" today, haven't listened to it, but possibly being his first work, it might not appeal to me

Cathode->Special Measures

maybe im just oblivious, but it seems to me that this album deserves more attention. Cathode's newest release, Special Measures, exhibits some good old structural melodies. As he stated in an interview, Steve Jeffries wanted to produce something that makes your hair stand up, not something to sit down and admire.

The album is a refreshing contrast from the present complicated experimentalism of artists such as Electric Birds, Richard Devine and Phoenicia. The opening track, "Be Red or Yellow" is an excellent introduction to his methods of synthesis--clear disctinct melodies that are layered with accessible rhythms. The general flow of the album consists of several diverse styles.

This album is for those who are tired of listening to ping pong tournaments.

Boards of Canada - Geogaddi

of course there are those who disregard this album because of Music Has the Right to Children's stardom--but one cannot overlook Geogaddi because of this. it's unfortunate that it has to live in such a shadow, because it is a special album. it's not supposed to be MHTRC's reincarnation...this is a seperate album in its own. allow its individuality to speak to you, as it has much to offer!

there are still a lot of MHTRC elements but i think what seperates Geogaddi from MHTRC is its more dramatic and in your face quality. it seems less distant and thought provoking than that of MHTRC's enigma. Geogaddi is the fire of what MHTRC built. it brings everything to consciousness and presents it in bold face letters. i think of it much like Radiohead's Amnesiac. Following Kid A (much like how Geogaddi followed MHTRC) was a hard task for Yorke and the rest, but what ended up being produced was an intense listen--much contrasting to Kid A's distant almost alienating sound. this is how Geogaddi functions.

let it be. it's powerful and waiting to bring you to the core of what MHTRC started.

Honestly, Steve, I think I am the only one that disregards this album. Every other place I turn to gives big ups to this, although I find it to be boring, most of the time. Maybe I need to listen to it about 20 more times to fully get a grasp on it, or then again, maybe I shouldn't. How is Geogaddi really underrated?

ive really never bumped into anyone who liked it. it's underrated because that's all ive experienced from others' opinions. to me it seems that everyone thinks it couldn't live up to MHTRC. in essence, it doesn't, but it's a totally different album.
