Solar Fields "Blue Moon Station"

Great ambient/tribal album out of the Ultimae label (France). Has a very Steve Roach-ish feel at times, but also strays away and creates a unique atmosphere of nice rhythmic patterns, ambient textures, and (as i said before) a maelstrom of tribal-esque beats.

FRX - FRX

An album personally recommended by Lynn Standafer (Enduser) to me. Mixes fast drill n' bass with ragga jungle and old skool drum n'bass ala Good Looking Records. Mix LTJ Bukem with Optical with Soundmurderer with Remarc with Enduser and you get this furious, laid back contradiction. Interesting stuff, highly recommended.

send the FRX to me one day...would you disagree that it reflects some of Somatic Responses' sounds?

Does that include something with a number as a track, something like 601203?

I'm not really sure if he is Japanese or not. I know the label he produces on is Japanese though, but The Flashbulb is American, however Ove-naxx is Japanese...

Tho-so-aa "Absorb"

Ever hear a dark ambient album? I'm sure most of you guys/gals have. Tho-so-aa has made a living over the last few years by making some of the most emotive, dark ambient out there, so when I heard the beats, and even synth patterns ala proem (at times) on this album, I was HIGHLY surprised. Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of dark moments on this album just as in the past and even now (as they've continued their darkness with the release 'Minus'). Just think of the high frequency pitch stuff of Alva Noto, Pixel, or Byetone and mix it with early Raison D'etre, and maybe a hint of a very low key Sephiroth. This perhaps is underrated because this is a relatively unknown group from Europe. Maybe this one should be an "underrated" group. Recommended.

interesting mix...i really like the work of Noto and Byetone and just thinking of the combinations with dark ambience sparks my interest. i have said it so many times before, but the Twine self-titled remains to be the darkest intimate experience i've had yet.

Karsten Pflum- Tracks

Perhaps one of the most underrated IDM albums of 2003, Karsten Pflum's "Tracks" melodizes, while showing a maturity in complex and intricate programming methods. This was put out on Worm Interface, which is another underrated label in it's own. Check it out, if you must....
