Creature Control
This might be an off-topic message, but I didn't know where to put it.
I'm designing a virus(Don't panic) which will be called Creature Control. This little monster acts like a track. You play it and the virus activates. The moment you try to grab(steal) a song from the CD with your rippep the virus activates.Do you agree with this new anti-ripping method???
The way it works(it is not ready yet):The first few lines of the virus are pieces from a blank track. When the player reads the end of the track it also reads the first line of viral code. The virus establishes himself in C:\System,and detects the presence of a .dbc file. The file .dbc is created temporarily when an audio is ripped(it is actually born when the anti-shock is created). When the .dbc is created the virus infects the boot sector!
Sorry for making you read such a long and innapropriate thread!

personally i do not agree with that. what if i wanted to rip a cd to keep a backup copy of it in mp3's? or convert my collection to listen to on the computer? the problem is you dont know if the person will be sharing those ripped copies. as far as i know, ripping isnt illegal.

That's why it has an antidote...or it will have because it doesn't really work now,if you own the cd legally you might get a warning or a key-something,you know to stop the spreading...For now I've just created another boot virus,I must program him to do my bidding...

How would it know if you own the CD or not? What if it's a friends bands cd? If you rip that will it spread the virus? Also in Australia I believe that it is legal to make copies of CD's you own so if that program harmed an Australian computer it could cause someone to sue you.

Actually,I wanted to make a good virus..and the adding of the virus is optional! It is not contagious, you put that small track in your personal album...let's say and if some jealous friend wants to steal your unreleased songs:he pays!!!

Your idea is good, but this well-designed virus shouldn't be used over such a little matter.
