Are boy bands dead...?

I have been lacking some watching TV skills (in other words I dont watch TV anymore) so I have no clue what's going on. Are boybands dead yet? I remember when I was in like...5th grade (that was probably around the year 1996) Backstreet Boys were "sooo hott"

True. Many of them are still around, such as, Blue and Busted.
Though they are not dead, I wish they were anyhow.

What goes around comes around....They'll go in and out of style. There's a huge 9-18 market, and if the music is catchy, and the guys are cute and clean, the Mom's will pay the dough. I'm sure it's a very profitable business....

Bob on the nail. I doubt they'll EVER die out, just go in and out of style, or change form in some way. Instead of the clean-cut boybands of the '90s your now getting the stubble, mullets and other stupid haircuts of "punk" boybands like linkin park, busted etc.

People that forcast trends for demographics will always dress up the record company's latest pop Frankenstein. People that are a sucker for that shit will run to the record shop like zombies. Cute guys that can sing and dance will never get old in the eyes of 12 year old girls.....

That's true, I'm sure a lot of decisions are taken off the actual artists hands. But I don't agree with the pied piper idea. Maybe some people get sucked in, but a lot of people just aren't seriously interested in music so like what we think is bland shit because it's bland, feel-good happy crappy.
