Amazing. In another forum I spent several posts explaining that Linkin Park was a pop band to someone over and over, and he didn't believe it because he didn't want to acknowledge that he was listeining to corporate pap.
Now, we have someone who says Eminem is some kind of "unique" genre where the lead vocalist happens to rap for similar reasons. Eminem is rap, simple as that. He is a very good rapper, certainly one of the more talented of the high-profile rappers out right now. Personally, I despise his subject matter, and that takes away from his appeal to me. But as someone who once tried to put a rap project together, I am more sensitive to "good" versus "bad" rappers. Like Kid Rock. He sucks. He's every bit as bad as I am

Fred Durst. Worse. The loser in Linkin Park? Absolutely pathetic, and quite possibly the worst rapper I have ever heard, not that I am some sort of expert on rap as whole.
The Beastiie Boys have had influence on the genre, strange for a few white former hardcore punks. "Paul's Boutique" and "Check Your Head" still enjoy regular rotation on my playlists. It's hardly a shame enjoy a few artists in a genre you dislike, but to make someone into something he isn't indicates a person in denial.
