Kerry King is amazing. My personal favorite is Marten Hagstrom from Meshuggah, but I don't know about the popularity of Meshuggah on these boards.

Ill give Friedman and Becker much respect, but Mustaine and Poland. Come on, their riffing was sloppy and their solos all sounded the same. As for Malmsteen and Vai, their guitar work is more like masturbation. They set up all their songs around a solo, throwing rhythm completely out the window. And metal should be about riffing, not running down scales at blinding speeds.
