Anyone know of any sites where one can upload self created sound files (noise, loops, instrument samples) and download files from other users?

Ive been to a few that were thematic. Breakbeats or strictly "techno" loops. Im looking in the direction of things like noise and/or organic instrument hits.

If I had the ability to construct a site that allows uploading and downloading I would be on it like a lion to a rotting wilderbeast corpse. I dont.

I just think it would rock to not have to visit a hundred sites to collect a handful of samples. Plus most of us musicians have bits of noise and stuff we'll probably never put to use, atleast I do. You hesitate to delete it because it's actually rather good. Yet you have no place for it and of course you are always creating something new as ideas present themselves. so I guess it would be a sound scrapyard of sorts im looking for.

BTW Im digging this site heavily, compliments to its mentor(s)

raeom,

Checked out scene.org. really cool site, there were a few samples avail in a resource folder, but very little and nothing I dont already have. However, it will be pleasing to download some of demos posted on the site. I also checked out your site, nice site. Unfortunately, the buffer kicked in and out so I didnt get a good listen to your work.

well when I say i am searching for samples, I mean things like massive bells from some random church in some country ive never been to as opposed to juno or proteus synth samples (which I have plenty of).

I dont snatch pieces of other peoples work if thats what you mean by illegal, however I did snag some really smooth cymbal samples from the zildjian and sabian sites. I also found a site with samples of machines from massive warehouses.. that kind of thing. I have no problem doing it if 1. its being offered with no strings attatched, or 2. its some corporation such as zildjian who sells the actual cymbals to broke musicians for well over their value. Shiesters and swindlers.

I'd like to share and trade these semi-rare samples(as opposed to *again 808 drum machine samples and all that easily accesable stuff. I normally never use a sound as is. I'll spend hours editing a sound until it isnt the same sound at all. I just enjoy having an extensive supply of resource to work with. You can get samples from anything with a handheld tape recorder, or from your old 4-track recordings etc. But what I decide to sample isnt going to be the same as what you or someone else might decide to sample. Plus, how I decide to edit a sound is going to be different than how someone else decides to edit the sound.
