pop is just short for popular...its a general preference that you dont have to follow.

i personally dont like most pop, but i dont feel sorry for people who listen to what they like

I'm not a pop-evangelist but just because you may dislike the genre doesn't invalidate pop as legitimate music.

Shit, I'm not hoppin' on the Pop or "Popular" bandwagon either, but I can't say that it all sucks. Haven't you ever heard a band that you didn't like, but you could tell that they are talented musicians, or that they are at least good at what they do?
What do you do? Comments like that are usually made by people that play in several bands (like me) or musicians that can play alot of shit. What do you do?

Why don't you tell us how you really feel? I don't think I could condemn any genre/style of music completely - there are even hardcore rap artists that I think are worth listening to (NWA, Public Enemy, Dr. Dre for example). You feel sorry for us? Well, I feel sorry that you're so closed minded.... ok, I'm over it.

This is probably a person who thinks pop is limited to what is currently on pop radio. If that were all that pop was, I'd feel sorry for anyone who was that crazy about it too...but it's not.
