Any suggestions for... "Real" techno to listen to?

To begin, if this is in the wrong area, I apologize, please don't hurt me...

Anyway, I've been skulking around the electronica forum, trying to find some techno to listen to. An no offense, but a lot of the suggestions I've seen are all a little "wussy"... Air, everything but the girl, ect... they are good, don't get me wrong, but it's not quite the sound I was looking for. For me all techno died by like '97. And frankly the best techno I've heard is Moby'd "Everything is wrong mixed and remixed..." Nothing else has compared to it yet. Dubnobasswithmyheadman was a good CD, forget the artist right now... Underworld maybe? Anyway, if you've heard these, anything else like it? Not having much luck here... Thanks in advance.

i agree, Moby's "Everything is Wrong" the original, is a superb album in my book, but honestly, I don't know what "techno" is now days...its broken into so many subgenres which make almost anything unclassifiable unless you know what you're talking about

DJ Mystik - Thunder In Paradise
DJ Dean - Play It Hard
Darude - Feel The Beat
Trance Control - Atomic Dance Explosion
Neo Cortex - Elements (radio)
Drunkenmonkey - E
Alice DeeJay - Better Off Alone

The real techno is mostly in Europe. Most of the artist live there and the best techno albums are imported from there. I dont even think Moby plays techno, his songs are too gay to play techno, I think he plays Electronica. Electronica is real gay to listen to, it's just the same beat for like 3 minutes non-stop. Try out the songs I stated.

Wack shit like Moby. My diffinition of techno is like excelerating beats that makes you live, like a beat for every mood your in. When I'm sad I set a techno song thats slow and has that nice feeling to listen to it, when I want to get happy I put some fast nice beat techno song that gets me alive for the whole day.

okay, "gay" is not a very accurate description of music at all. while we don't care much about moby here, but please choose other descriptive words to describe an artist or whatever.

and I think the kind of electronic genre cheddah into is not quite techno, it is probably trance, based on "accelerating beats that makes you live". trance does that all the time, the dramatic build up of drums and stuff with that syrupy synth line.

well, IDM is not exactly trance, or techno, and it does take more patience to appreciate.

do us a favor, cheddah, do a search in this forum with the word "trance", you may find what you are looking for.

The only real techno album I`ve got is Laurent Garnier - Unreasonable Behaviour, but I`m sure it`s too crazy for most.

Underworld was big together with fluke, which is similar, if you haven`t allready heard about them, maybe check them out.

For REAL techno, go for a german techno compilation (not the mainstream ones), but that stuff is HARD.
