IDM evolved around artists from warp records , well that's probably a false generalization, but, from what i've heard that's where it first started to get "big"

Why would your wife divorce you? because you'll act too immature and she'll divorce you or she simply dislikes techno genres?

well, remember back in the mid 90's, even MTV would play electronic music videos? and after "electronica" became an untrendy trend, a lot of labels went down hill or even out of business.
Warp is one of those that survived and got even stronger. so in a way, your statement is right.

I don't listen to trance so I am safe.
but she did say if I listen to michael bolton or celine dion, she would definitely divorce me. and I told her "just kill me if I get that far gone!"

I"m confused about all these terms, admittadly I'm not all into the club scene or whatever, I was just looking for some music that matched a particular feeling/emotion... is it really bad if it's... "IDM"? I don't really like calling music "bad" because I feel if all you're taking out of the music is what they're putting in, you're really missing out. The only reason I don't really like popular music is for what I feel is a lack of creativity, and so stunting the rest of the industry, and possibly the people that listen to it too... Sorry if I came off as some kind of poser or something, but I really don't know much about the different kinds of music, it's hard to label them, just looking for a way to kinda describe it.
Just try and see what else you can get out of music, even music that sucks. It's interesting what you can learn.

i never said it was bad to be labeled "IDM"...I just said since it got popular, everyone wants to call themselves as making "IDM" music and I think its very overused, that it is used basically to describe anything "creative" today...
