There IS new industrial music -- not techno and not some strange hybrid or bang-clang noise that sometimes is dished up as a poor substitute for the real thing.
I saw Carbon 12 mentioned in one of the responses to this post. Carbon 12 appeared on my label's (BLC Productions
www.blcmusic.com) last compilation, Interbreeding: Industrial Cyberlords, with the track "Parasite" -- excellent track from the "Harsh Frequencies" disc. Steve of Carbon 12 has been working with Fear Factory and doing some great stuff. Also appearing on Interbreeding, some verrry talented newcomers on the scene like FANOE with "Every Inch" (Klaus Fanoe of Switzerland), Plastic Noise Experience with "Maschinen", Collide with an almost-impossible to find remix of "Beneath the Skin" from Zip of Bigod 20. There's lots more but this is not the place to promo stuff :-)
Point is, in short, there's some hella-talented real industrial bands / artists that are digging out of the dark and breathing life back into industrial. We've got a follow-up (the love of sequels!) coming (now in production and available pre-release) called Interbreeding II: Industrial Mutation that is one of the best -- if not THE best -- compilations of 2003, including Hocico (Mexico), Dioxyde (Spain), ESR (France), Tactical Sekt (Germany, on tour with Suicide Commando), Diverje (USA), Infekktion (Germany), Stark and Angel Theory (Australia), More Machine Than Man (Poland, on tour with Razed in Black), God Project (USA, on tour with Terrorfakt and E-Craft) ... and a ton more. This one will be arriving in about 10 days and is certain to offer industrial music lovers what they've been missing -- hard, dark, unrelenting, uncompromising industrial.
Ho ho ho :-) There isn't much profit in the record industry these days so the only reason for me to make these discs is to put out great music ;-)!! We've also got brand new stuff from Croatia (Injury "Scars from the Past", with remixes from Funker Vogt, Aghast View, Flesh Field and more) and our newest signing AGONOIZE, "Paranoid Destruction" MCD which is wreaking havoc on Berlin right now. Really some dynamite, no nonsense, tight industrial.
It does take some serious work to find the new material that stands up against pretty average (or just bad) stuff that's been put out. That's what we do at BLC.
