I recently bought two live releases, "Fan club 2001" (Metallica - a show from the Justice-tour), and "Live with Taste" (Rory Gallagher).
Especially the Metallica cd is great. Hetfield's voice is incredibly vicious, and they play a good set of songs.
I also bought Peter Gabriel's "Birdy" (soundtrack to the movie of the same name)a little while ago. It's quite difficult, it being instrumental all the way through, but quite atmospheric as well.
yesterday i picked up ornette coleman's 'free jazz - a collective improvisation by the ornette coleman double quartet' i still haven't had a chance to listen to the two tracks yet. the really interesting thing about this album (to me at least) is that coleman leads one quartet playing through the left channel while eric dolphy leads the other one through the right side.
