I managed to spot Eric Dolphy's "Out to Lunch" for 13USD at my local music store, so I picked it up.

is that suppose to be a deal? Wow, music is pretty expensive over there, but then again, it's overpriced here too.

Yeah, doesn't sound like much of a deal does it? And people wonder why we download so much music ( ok, so it's no excuse, but still... )
You have to remember it was in an actual physical store though. Over there a recently released album can be anything from 20 to 30 USD, never lower, most of the time 27USD or so ( 170 norwegian "crowns" ). It's not very cheap.
But if you look at online shops it's not much cheaper either. New releases can be up to 26 USD even there, and with the added shipping there's not much difference from buying it locally anyway.

I would check to see what it would cost to buy from cduniverse.com, and ship it.

About 16USD for Out to Lunch with shipping included. So I got it for 3 dollars less at the store, although it was discounted. If it was not, then it surely would have been cheaper to buy it from that site.
I browsed around that site for a bit now, and it seems very decent. I even found some relatively unknown electronica artists' music. Thanks for the reccomendation Satch! You saved me a lot of money ( although if I end up buying more music now you didn't after all! =P )

It's especially best to use cduniverse for new releases. They sell for around 30% cheaper than normal list price at that time.
The March 1st Blue Note RVG's will be selling for $8.39 U.S. starting today. I believe their new price sales last for a week from release date.

And one more very important point. The vast majority of cds (including the Blue Notes) sold in the U.S. are not copy controlled, which you will find in Europe. So, they are cheaper and won't have their sound effected by the copy controll device, which doesn't work anyway.

Oh don't worry, I check for copy control every time I buy a CD now, after having bought one with it.
