My copy of Albert Ayler's Holy Ghost just arrived. The packaging is huge. It weighs 3.5 lbs.

Haven't gotten around to opening the package it came in as of yet.

And it's still the #5 seller on cduniverse!

The recent Alexander Schlippenbach's - Globe Unity Orchestra reissue is also included, which is called Hamburg '74.

Not bad. Lots of banging. Kind of reminds me of Mule Variations in a way - but I like Mule Variations a whole lot more. Have to listen to it a few more times to get a better feel.

It's rather like Mule Variations indeed, and that's not my favourite, I'm more for the melodic Waits (Small Change), but it's quite good, dark and all... now listening to Hoist that Rag and Ribot is doing a good job on it... The whole cd is fine, but some of the songs are a bit too long, methinks...

I've heard that the Waits album is pretty good, but that the REM is sort of a letdown. What do you think?
I've never actually heard Qyeensryche, what's it like? I know that they have a song called "Silent lucidity", but I don't know it that well.

Last monday I bought

Peter Gabriel III
Grant Lee Buffalo - Fuzzy
Rory Gallagher - Tattoo

They're all very good, but I've already heard some of Rory Gallagher's songs from Tattoo on "Irish Tour", and I actually prefer 'em like that, live.

R.E.M. is my favorite band but I have to admit, Around The Sun is definitely not great. It's okay I suppose but only slightly better than Reveal - IMO. Very mellow.

Queensryche is more of a metal/hard rock band than silent lucidity might lead you to believe - thinking man's metal band as I saw them described . Really like them.
