from what i remember it was kinda like the punk scene where most people focus on being 'truer' to the scene rather than focusing on the music... no one wanted to hear anything really new... it was all the same with a twist...

the way my friend explained it to me was kinda like this... imagine 200 djs... all trying to be cool in TO... the bottom 100 are straight up amateurs learning the ropes and struggling to play a party... the next 50 were pretty much amateurs who could consitently get shows... the biggest problem were the top 10... they were the big draws who ran the scene... they were the only ones that seemed to be allowed to bring in anything new and then the rest just leeched of them... it's like the people booking the shows only let the big names offer anything new...

"truer to the scene" is such an abstract term, I never understand how you can compare one being "TRUER" than the other. it just sounds bogus to me. I guess it is the protection of the whole subculture thing, like back in the 80's, people would actually say to you "you are not goth enough to do this and listen to that". what a joke!

damn, 200 DJs, and 150 of them are amateurs, that's pretty bad.

I guess once people find a successful formula to certain type of music, people of course would jump the band wagon and try to squeeze the most out of it. yeah, once in a great while, the top 10 DJs may bring something new to the table but that's pretty rare if they still want their career.

Cool, Australian music! So far I've got a lot of Midnight Oil, Silverchair and INXS. Also some by The Living End, Pacifier, Powderfinger, Savage Garden, The Vines, and AC/DC. I haven't been able to find any of The Androids though, when someone recommended them to me.

No, that Regurgitator CD is REALLY good. Pretty much every track is really different because every time Regurgitator release a CD, they change their style.

A friend of mine said it's like they all have A.D.D! Very cool music!

Qwerty.
