Is the columbia house system a good way to go? I'd be tempted to try it out to get some free cd's (and I'm sure their selection is better than anything where I live) but I've heard they make it a pain in the ass to ever end business with you.

I've found it easy to end business with them.

The only thing that's a pain in the ass is that you have to remember to return this card declining the selection of the month or else they'll send you something you don't want. But, you can get out of that. All you have to do is call accounts (or something) and tell them that you want to be exempt from having to return the card. You may have to lie and tell them that when you joined in the past, you were exempt. (For a few years, they didn't send the card.)

Overall, you save money, but you're locked into what they have available. It's slim pickings for people with generally non-mainstream taste, but you can find good stuff if you mine their website, like I do.

The way it's going to work out for me, I'm getting 15 CDs free and I only have to buy 4 over the course of 2 years.

I guess the latest I bought were Silver Mt Zion's He Has Left Us Alone and This Is Our Punk Rock
I should get to the local store and get my ordered copies of Mission Of Burma (Vs and Signals, Calls & Marches) and Explosions In The Sky, but I'm not sure if I can afford it right now... Btw I saw an announcement for a new Mission Of Burma cd...

I need to get a little more Misson of Burma into my CD collection. One day...

DJ Dara, I have Renegade Continuum 2. I've seen him spin a bunch of times. Good stuff.

Don't know many of the albums that have been mentioned, except Horakhti's purchase of Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours", which is pretty sweet.

These are two albums I just bought:
-Black Sabbath - Sabotage. Finally I have all of Sabbath's first six albums
-Electric Light Orchestra - Eldorado. My first ELO album.

I've been listening to "Rumours" for ages, but never bothered to pick it up on CD until now.

Sabbath - You can't go wrong w/ the first six...

well as far as you don't know these newer things, I don't know much about all these classic rock things, well I know the names and I know some songs, but I don't own many albums (or just none) by bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd... Which is why can't join in with many discussions, damn!
