Those were my "new" purchases anyway. My funds are getting to the point where I've finally started digging around Amazon's used section and ebay for things.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the RVG editions. It just seems like he's making them louder for the sake of current mastering conventions.

I don't have a whole lot of them, but that's what I remember thinking...I'll have to go listen again when I have time.

He compresses the hell out of them and claims he doesn't. Of course, I am not one of those who think too much of Rudy Van Gelder.

The JRVG's usually sound better than the U.S. versions....up until recently they were separate remasterings; however, originally the JRVG's didn't have the alternate and/or bonus tracks the U.S. versions had.

I think I remember parts of that Andrew Hill release actually distorting, but I'll have to go back to it.

Robert Plant / Alison Krauss - Raising Sand

This one is a beauty. It's got high praise lately, deservedly. T-Bone Burnett's production is gorgeous as usual. The duets remind me a lot of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris.

Just grabbed R.E.M.'s "Murmur" off Ebay. Waiting on "Document" and "Automatic For The People". 99 cents plus shipping, not too bad.

I've never been a huge fan, but a band I've been meaning to get a few albums from for a while.

So what exactly is new about this release, for those with previous editions?
