I've been on a bit of a cd-buying binge lately.

Phoenix Reign - Destination Unknown
This one is excellent for a debut album especially... it's power-metal with a female vocalist. She definately doesn't go for 'pretty' though, it's different. The CD reminds me of Megadeth and Iron Maiden, a bit.

Octavia Sperati - Winter Enclosure
This is a pretty good CD, also a debut album. I'm not sure how to classify it. It definitely has elements of thrash and gothic rock, with a very floaty female singer. It's a good CD, but I think the Phoenix Reign one is a lot more powerful in most places.

Rush - Snakes and Arrows
Wow. The first time I heard it I thought it was just okay, but the more I listen to it the more I'm amazed by it and it grew on me a lot. I think this is the best of my recent purchases.

Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
Creepy, really effective CD. It's easy to misinterpret the lyrics, but I think they are very clever and the CD has such a chilling quality to it. 'Anesthesize' is just amazing...
Listened to Rush with The Larger Bowl
"Not such a great song... but a great album"

I like any project that Steven Wilson is apart of. If you like the creepiness, you might wanna check his drone work as Bass Communion.

I think mikeshit is going for the 'haiku way' of posting.

yesterday i picked up the new circa survive album and the new driver side impact album "the very air we breathe." i figured i would enjoy the circa survive album, but i wasn't sure about the DSI album. i mean, i liked what i heard on myspace but i was still kinda questionable about the purchase, but actually the cd is awesome! so yeah, go check both of those cd's out, even if you've never heard of DSI still give them a listen, i'm sure most everyone already knows circa.
