There are a few people into both. I myself like a halfway decent pile of SOAD tunes (I also really like Serj as a vocalist). Modest Mouse I don't like at all, although I used to have a major crush on the singer's ex-gf, with whom I used to work at a Seattle-area Kinko's.

Threads about both bands seem to ide as they are put up, though. Everyone chimes in about how they like or dislike them and that's about it. It's true that neiter band seems to get a long discussion about the nuts and bolts of their songwriting or material.

hehe

Sufjan Stevens is american folk/alt.country. He wants to make a cd about every US state, and after Michigan, Illinois is the second one. There's usuallly a rich instrumentation in his songs. I think it's overall a bit too inadventurous and cosy for you, but I really like him, and I'm not the only one.

Young for Eternity by The Subways. Arrived yesterday actually and I can't put it down...well, I know it's not a book but you get the drift. Absolutely cracking songs. I think I'm in love...
