Soulseek->Full Albums (Join RADIO mute)

Soulseek is a program made specially for the trade of music. It is a great way to hear new music, and talk to great people.

Download the latest version of Soulseek (152) Here.
If you have problems loading the page for some reason, right click Here and select Save Target As.

When your download has finished, and you have installed the Soulseek program, look to the right. there should be a list of rooms. Click the 'Rooms' bar to see all rooms in alphabetical order. Scrool down until you find the room called RADIO mute This room has been made for members of this forum to talk about music/whatever. It is also a great way to talk to people and learn about great new music.
Note: if you cannot see the room, right click on any room and select Refresh Room List. then look for the room once all the rooms have loaded.

Once you are in the room, you need to share some files, if you have any to share. On the top of the Soulseek window, click on File Sharing You will see a window pop up showing the drives on your computer. locate the folder or folders where your music files are. (To select them, click on the box to the left.) Once you are done, that, on the bottom of that same window, you will see two options. They are to choose who your shared files are available to. You can share only with people you choose to, or everyone on Soulseek. The choice is yours. When you are finished, click on OK. Then Soulseek will scan your files. Depending on how many you have, it could take anywhere from 1-20 minutes. Be patient, and if Soulseek freezes up, dont close it. just wait.

Once you have your shared files, and are in a room, you're pretty much set. In the room, besides a persons name, there will be two numbers. The first number will be the number of files that person is sharing. The second is average upload speed.
NOTE: this is not a good representation of how fast someone uploads, becasue even if they have broadband, a dial-up user could download from them, therefore bringing down their average speed.

To browse someones files, right click on their name, and select Browse Files. When you get their file list, files will be in folders. People share albums in folders, so if you want to download right click on the folder and select Download. Look in the Transfers tab to see the progress of your downloads/uploads.

To add a person to your user list, right click on their name in a room, and select Add To List. This way if you are only sharing with people in your user list, that person can get your file list.

Thats all you need to know. If you are already using Soulseek, and are posting at this forum, please join the Radio Mute room.

Please remember, Soulseek is about music, so only share music, and music related material.

and finally, if you download some music you like, please remember to support the artist and go buy their cd.

Have fun !!

EDIT: the server goes down occasionally. Check the server status Here

another EDIT: Please, if you rip any albums, or download something, try to make it at least 192 kbit. Soulseek users like high quality files :-)

Yeah I've used it before, it's just that I haven't put it on the new computer yet. The new Kazza lite is really good too so it hasn't been a priority yet (to load slsk).
