Feel free to move this, I wasn't sure where it should go
Celia Cruz died yesterday in New Jersey at 79.
Another hit for the history of Cuban music, Celia Cruz was by far the best known (I'd say best) and most flamboyant salsa singer, and a recognizable symbol of the American Cuban exile community. A career that began in the 1950s and ran well into the 90s (she won several grammies late in her life).
"Cuban music is in mourning because it has lost the greatest singer of its history," Latin jazz pianist Chucho Valdez told Reuters. "She is irreplaceable. But her voice and music remain with us for ever."
