Best live performance ever seen

Hi all,
Just a question, what is the best live performance you've ever seen, and why? Just curious to know

The best live performance I have ever seen whas a concert of the Simple Minds in Brussels. Really good. Why? OK, I really like the Simple Minds, but that's not the reason why it was so good. They played in a small concert building, I guess a maximum capacity around 3000... with no airco...and on a hot hot summernight. It was around 35°C I guess and they where just giving the best of theirselves, with all the greatest hits. The crowd was going out of their minds...everybody... fantastic atmosphere, really. I'll never forget that.
I saw them two times again after that concert, but it was not that good anymore.

I know this is going to be a bit odd, but my favorite live performances are always classical music concerts. I cant think of a specific one though.

the best live act i've seen is the one of Placebo in 2000 December.
it was the "black market tour" and was the last night of the serie,
and that day was the Molko's b-day.. i did really enjoy that night
and know it is going to be one of the most important events
that i'd tell to my grandchildren showing the concert tickets and the album cd's..
i'm sure, yea...

the accent of icelandic words falls in almost all cases on the first syllable. the exceptions are

1.words that have the negative prefix "ó-" meaning "un-" as in "unwilling" eg óhreinindi
2.words that have the prefix "all-" meaning "rather" or "very" eg allfeginn

in these two cases, the accent falls equally on the first two syllables or mainly on the second syllable.

Maybe that would be "best live show NOT seen."

I am no concert guru, but the last really good concert I have seen was Pearl Jam's benefit here in Seattle a few months ago. They just brought down the house. The show was just tight! If you want to go and hear a genuine rock band do their thing get some PJ tickets!

I can understand that, there are a lot of good classical concerts. They give you an enourmous feeling too. It's weird.

Wow, I don't know...I guess I'd have to say that the greatest live rock show I ever saw was Yes, a few years back when they had two guitarists (Billy Sherwood and veteran Yesman Steve Howe) along with the young Russian keyboardist (who I think was actually just slightly better than Wakeman). They did an incredible show, full of classic long pieces from their best known albums. Jon Anderson's voice was unbelievably good (especially considering his age). And the light show, combined with the music, came mighty close to being a "religious" experience for me.

I've been to a lot of good shows - Tori Amos was pretty good, Jane's Addiction(!), The Rolling Stones (Steel Wheels) with Guns N Roses opening for them, The Butth*le Surfers put on a bizarre show (upside down penis operations being projected on a screen in the background )... I was lucky enough to catch Stevie Ray Vaughan at The Greek Theater when B.B. King opened for him, Iron Maiden, ELP, The Grateful Dead with Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Kitaro (yep, Kitaro), Bela Fleck & The Flecktones at the House Of Blues, Pink Floyd (Momentary Lapse Tour), etc...

If I had to pick a 'best show' it would probably be The Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Palladium in '91(?) - it was a little while after Blood Sugar was released. The energy of the band was incendiary, I don’t know how else to describe it. It was like they were going to spontaneously combust at any moment.
