Tony Bennett

Now, here's a guy that just amazes me. He's been at it since the early 50s, and he's still at it, and sounds as great as ever. I thought it was so interesting in the early 90s when a lot of alternative music people started digging Tony Bennett and he started hanging out with some of them occasionally. I thought it was really classy of the guy to show appreciation for what much younger people in other musical circles were doing.

I would say he is a true "class act". I love to hear him sing.

Any comments?

I'm definitely in agreement with you here - Tony Bennett is a class act. From his recordings with Count Basie up until the present day, he seems to have remained constant to his goals of singing the best vocal jazz and traditional pop songs around, the best way he knows how. His recognition fluctuates with the times, but he's remained fairly consistent, as cool and sophisticated as ever, just doing his thing. He's pretty much the last of a breed of male vocalist to include Bing, Frank, Dean, and Sammy; they don't make 'em like that anymore.
