Phil Collins

I really think that Phil Collins is a respectable pop artist. My wife and I have always been into his music (my wife, being a drummer, has been particularly a fan). We've made it a point to get all his albums.

Some of his earlier music would fit more in the "rock" bag than in "pop", but over all, I would say that he has developed his music along pop lines in the long run.

Does anyone else find his music enjoyable? I won't be too surprised if I'm alone on this one...

You're not alone my friend. I have listened to Phil Collins for quite a while now. His solo material being a particular fav of mine. In the Air Tonight, Against All Odds, Separate Lives, One More Night, the list goes on. He has put out some powerful music.

I have to admit I have never liked his solo stuff much... But I really liked when he first took over as the Genesis singer,, "Trick of The Tail" and a few other albums after that were really good.. But then, I don't know, Genesis and his solo work just lost some of that "arty" edge... One pop jewel I do love that he was involved with was that duet he did with the guy from Earth Wind and Fire (Philip Bailey),, the tune was called "Easy Lover" (the video for it was funny as well)...

there is only one song I can stand from Phil, that song from Against All Odds, other than that, I really can't stand his voice.

My father has an album of his, the best of. If he plays that album, run away to my room!

Personally, I can't stand him. Apart from Sting, I think he's the world's most SMUG pop star.

Those album covers that are giant close-ups of his face? Barf!

Having said that, 1) I like the Genesis album "Seconds Out" and 2) he actually did play drums on "Another Green World."
