Kraftwerk

I heard on the radio today that Kraftwerk are going to release a new album after 12 of silence. What do people here think of that?!?

What's your thoughts on Kraftwerk in general?

12 years of silence? well, their last album was "The Mix", but this will be will be their first original material meaning "new songs" since 1986's "Electric Cafe" which was 17 years ago...

Kraftwerk should be etched in the minds of everyone that is creating any type of electronic music now. They influenced people from Aphex Twin to Tool. Just look at them...their presence was undeniable...they would wear suits while being behind 4 pedestals at times...just very "different" for any timeframe...great group

the tracks in "the mix" are remixed in a funny way.

17 years is a long time for new material. I can never get over Pocket Calculator! For some reason I find this song really funny!

"I'm the operator with my pocket calculator"

Great song!

Glad to hear that Kraftwerk is finally putting out something new. I've been a long time fan of theirs and been waiting patiently for new tracks. I saw them fairly recently while they were in LA in 98...they had a few new tracks they played live along with the standards that everybody knows and loves, but nobody really knows what those new tracks were, obviously unreleased.

I guess technically their last release was Expo 2000 (a single with about 6 versions of that song).

Let me know if you find out anything new on upcoming releases.

Cheers!

begin? ha! i don't think you know what you're talking about  what about Leon Theremin in the early teens? and what about this guy named John Cage

not to mention Pierre Shaefer, Xenaxis, Pierre Henry and Karlheinz Stockhausen...

Pierre Henry used a method called Musique Concrete...that was basically around the 40's and 50's (I think), around the time when Stockhausen was doing his experimentation with noise and layers of silence...

But without Kraftwerk, electronic music wouldn't be where it is today, no doubt about that...

I wonder what Kraftwerk will sound like when the release their new tunes?

Do you think they'll have the same sound of the 80's or they'll just sound like a new electronic act?
