For some reason I thought that I already responded in this thread a good while ago. Must have been something similar.

Fushitsusha anyone?.

Well from this list

Masonna
Whitehouse
Merzbow
Aube

The finals

Masonna
Merzbow

The winner is Masami Akita.

Others I would have picked instead of those others on for the poll; Altered States, Ground Zero, K.K. Null and several others I am sure I posted somewhere on this board. I haven't gone senile just yet.

It's been a bit since I listened to it. It's not exactly something that is meant for a lot of repeated listening. Say along the lines of any Beatles or Beethoven recording. At least that is my opinion on the matter. Young might have other thoughts.

I will have to pull out soon and give it It comes with a pretty big and detailed booklet. Even going into superior prickish detail on how to find the proper volume settings to listen to it.

The Bosendorfer piano that Young used sounds excellent.

Haven't you figured Seba's M.O.? It is to start polls or threads asking for lists and than not include his own.

Every once in a while he will include one, but it usually is posted about a month or two later.

Yes, I know he didn't start this particular thread.

No, I meant where's Seba on the list of noise artists you enjoy... he's modest, but his noise is quality stuff

I'm not a huge fan of outright noise musicians myself, I think it's something that can only be listened to very occasionally, before it all gets a tad similar sounding. I generally prefer artists who use extreme noise occasionally, such as Controlled Bleeding, SPK, or Throbbing Gristle, it has much more impact that way. Paul Lemos (of Controlled Bleeding) released a solo album, Phlegm Dive, that contains some of the best noise stuff I've heard, "Excremental" is absolutely brutal.

Does no-one else think Whitehouse are bit embarrassing now? Their sound has barely changed at all, in over 20 years, it's still really basic. At least Merzbow's early stuff is easily separated from his recent releases.

It's usually because I forget about the threads in question...remember that I start so many of them that it's hard to keep track...

Lemos's prolific output is consistently intense, but quality varies. I've interviewed him, he comes across as a "regular guy." He still teached English at a Cathoic high school out on Long Island. One of my favorite CB releases is "Gag," on some Italian label I can't recall the name of.
Lemos is a good example of an artist labeled as "Industrial" who has done everything from ear-bleeding walls of noise, to pretty music for solo acoustic guitar.
