Ska Music
the Rock forumey thing might not be the place for this, but ive noticed there are no threads for Ska - the best musical style ever. Just put down what you think, good or bad.

The Skatalites are awesome, but when I think of ska I think about Reel Big Fish and how they played at the Superbowl a few years ago. Then where was ska after that? nowhere. It was a quick trend everybody marched throgh for half a year along with the return of swing music. Remember the Cherry Poppin' Daddies? They were real successful for a few months.
Ska is alright, but alot of ska that I've heard (in my opinion) really just sounds the same and just kinda sucks.....

thats cuz thirdwave ska was... kinda lame. it was popular one minute... then disappeared. now ska bands are trying to blend in with the emo bands, who just sound alot like less than jake without the ska.

Reel Big Fish kick the arse off of Less Than Jake in every respect. Better songs, content, guitar, trumpet/brass parts, vocals, everything.

But yeah, compared to the Two Tone revival, third wave was pretty lame. It relied a bit on punk for its fan base, it started good with bands like the Skeletones, Mighty Mighty BossTones, or Jump With Joey at the front who looked the part, and played the right music, but somewhere along the line it got usurped by "ska-punk" acts like Less Than Jake, and im ashamed to say it, but Reel Big Fish to some extent. And to be honest, alot of ska-punk DOES suck.
