newbie interested in making techno

hey all, i'm interested in making techno music, and i want to do a professional job at it. I have a few questions, so here they are:

1) what hardware lvls do i need in the computer i use to make techno music

2) what is a good, easy to use and understand program to make techno with and how much does it cost?

3) will i need to buy the different sounds i use or will those come w/ the program i buy? what's the best way to get a whole whack of the best sounds, how much will i need to spend on sound fx to be able to make a professional lvl track?

just to clarify, i'm not talking about mixing, i'm talking about actually writing some techno tracks.

thanks for helping me w/ this stuff

peace

Yo, Jimbo. I've just started writing techno music and people say I do a pretty good job at it. I'd suggest actually getting some instruments rather than just a computer program to do it for you. Check out Korg, they make some pretty good tools, especialy their synth keyboards. You really need an arppeggiator (built into most synth keyboards), they are very good tools that help you make good sweeping arppeggios and still keep them equally timed for every note. You can also get some sequencers from both Korg and Roland that are good for multitracking your music without a computer and take it with you also. Just in case you do a show or something. The biggest tool you can have is music theory. Knowing all about inversions, chords and chord progression is probably the best thing you can know that will help you in making techno.

BTW I'm really into chatting with someone about making techno. If you are interested, all my contact info is in my profile.

I use fruityloops. It is a good program and easy. It can be used for techno easily. There are quite a few sounds that come with it, but there are alot better sounds and fx sends to buy as well.

i suggest getting a micro korg synth. its 400 dollars and not too shabby for the price. i have a korg EA1 modeling synth and a ER1 groove machine syncronized through midi. however, if you would like to use a computer program get fruity loops. i have it now and it is really easy to understand and doesnt confuse you. i do use a midi/pc link up to take patterns from my korgs though. because no program really has all the sounds you want.

Well, Fruity Loops will do more then the Korg can, for a 1/4 of the price. Try the demo, and download the tutorials to go with it.
